We continue to support the relief efforts here on Maui. We want to say mahalo to all of you who have dropped off donations at our campus. To date, we have sent 3 truckloads of donations directly to the west side, and today some of our high school students took a load to the South Maui Gym shelter in Kihei. We would like to continue to support our KCS families in need and send goods to the Kihei shelter. We asked the volunteers there what was most needed, and they provided the following wishlist:
Toilet paper
Canned goods - pull tab only
Snacks for kids
Water
Laundry pods - no liquid soap
Dish soap
Baby powder
Paper towels
Diapers - size 5-6
Canned fruit
Donations can still be dropped off under the tent in the corner of the parking lot during school hours. We also ask that people donate gift cards (Visa, Home Depot, Target, etc.). We would like to give these to families in need within our KCS school community. Gift cards can be dropped off at the front office.
Mahalo Nui Loa! Maui Strong!

We are heartbroken over the devastation of our island this week. We want to support our Maui community by becoming another donation center for South Maui. Starting Tuesday, August 15th, Kihei Charter School will be accepting items for distribution to individual families in need. We have several community partners who have access to West Maui. We also have lists of those who have been displaced and are sheltered in Kihei and Central Maui and what they currently need. We plan to collect, sort, and label items for distribution. Trucks will be sent to the school to pick up the sorted items and will take them directly to these families.
Here is a list of items that are currently needed the most:
(Clothes are not needed at this time, as so many have already been donated!)
Food - non-perishable and canned goods
Water
Baby needs - baby food, diapers, wipes
Feminine products
Towels
Sleeping bags
Tents
Gas cans
Can openers
Hairbrushes, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors
Serving utensils
Garbage bags
Flashlights
Batteries
We will also need donations of large boxes and duct tape to sort and box everything for distribution.
Donations can be dropped off in our school parking lot between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm.
Please help if you can. We are also looking for volunteers to help receive these items and help direct incoming cars. Our KCS students will help sort and box everything for distribution.
Together we can make a difference. Let's embrace Laulima as many hands working together can uplift our community.
Mahalo for you kokua!

We hope you and your 'ohana are doing well and getting through this unprecedented time.
We will have a phased reopening next week. Staff will return on Monday (8/14) and students will return on Tuesday (8/15). This will enable us to assess the overall scope of the situation, determine our level of staffing, and prepare for the return of the students.
We know that families are dealing with the impacts of the recent events and we excuse all staff and students who are unable to attend at this time. Once again, if you and your family are experiencing hardship and need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out. Here is the contact information for our administration:
