The KCS STEM Academy

at the Maui Research and Technology Center (MRTC)

   

 

The STEM Academy is…

  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
  • Project-based, hands-on, outside activities
  • Participation in authentic science experiments and field work
  • Community-based problem solving and service learning focused on environmental issues impacting Maui
  • Preparation for advanced science and math work in high school
  • A small school experience. There will be 48 students for the 2007-08 school year (24 in 6 th grade and 24 in 7 th grade)
  • An integrated program which includes an additional emphasis on language arts, social studies, artistic expression, health, wellness, and physical fitness
  • An experience that extends beyond the “regular school day” through extracurricular activities, math and writing enrichment, service learning projects, extension activities, student competitions, etc.
