				Yosef graduated from Kihei Charter School in May 2008, and has since earned his Associate of Arts from the University of Hawaii Maui College in May 2011. He enjoys sports, surfing, computers, cutting edge technology, and PC gaming. Yosef joined the Kihei Charter School staff in July 2009.<br />

				Food Services Manager</strong><br />
				Cecilia received her Bachelor of Science in African Studies from the State University of New York at New Paltz, her graduate degree in Gemology from the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California, with degrees in Diamonds and Stone Identification, and she received her Associate of Science in Food Service from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. All four of her children have attended KCS, and she has been a KCS parent for the last ten years. She was born in Boston, and has lived in New York, Colorado, Hawaii, Florida, California, and Alaska. She has traveled extensively to 22 countries on six continents, most recently to Nepal in October 2010, on a mission trek. Cecilia enjoys hiking and going to the beach, Makena (Big Beach) being her favorite, and she is an active member of Calvary Chapel. She has had a variety of work experiences throughout her life. She has worked in a bakery, was a model, taught in middle school, had her own business as an artist painting clothing, had a gem lab, was a diamond mining consultant in Africa, and was a chef. The most challenging and rewarding position she has had is as a mother. Cecilia thoroughly enjoys her work at KCS and is dedicated to serving students to the best of her ability. Cecilia joined Kihei Charter School full time in 2005.</p>

				Clerk</strong><br />
				Ryn received her Bachelor of Arts in Retail Management, is a licensed real estate agent, and is P.A.T.C.H. certified. Prior to joining the KCS ‘ohana, she worked as a roller skating carhop, real estate agent, airport dispatcher, native plant landscaper, private yacht chef, and as an event and wedding coordinator. For fun, Ryn enjoys paddling everywhere, supporting programs that fund cancer prevention, selling Mary Kay, sewing things, and helping people. Her proudest moments are becoming a grandma to Jayden, born on January 22, 2011, and raising two great sons: Jade who lives in Lahaina and Dallas who lives in Seattle. Things she would like to do include going on a cruise, riding some rapids, and visiting Greece. The best things she ever did…was listen to her dad. He said everyone should visit Hawaii because it is so beautiful, so she moved to Hawaii when she was 18. Ryn joined Kihei Charter School in 2010.</p>

				Director</strong><br />
				Dan was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Florida as the middle of three brothers. He received his Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Masters in Science Education, both from the University of Florida. He is credentialed in the State of Hawaii in Secondary Science. Before joining Kihei Charter School, Dan worked as a marine science educator in the Florida Keys, a lifeguard, high ropes instructor, ski boat driver, and as a Curriculum Developer at the Pacific Whale Foundation. He has experience captaining boats and facilitating outdoor educational experiences for both children and adults. During his years at KCS Dan has worked as the high school science facilitator, STEM Middle School Lead Facilitator, and STEM Middle School Site Administrator, prior to being promoted to his current position of Director. He has presented at a variety of national conferences, and has attended educational trainings at both Stanford and Harvard. Dan loves travel and adventure and is an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoys freediving, spearfishing, sport fishing, surfing, scuba diving, stand-up paddle boarding, hiking, and camping. He is also a sports enthusiast, and plays every manner of sport; basketball is his favorite. He enjoys being an uncle to his two nephews and one niece, and relaxing at home. Dan joined Kihei Charter School in July 2003.</p>

				Clerk</strong><br />
				Polly graduated from El Dorado High School. Her experience includes clerical work, office management, small business owner, and elementary school educational assistant. Her hobbies include outrigger canoe paddling, walking, kick-boxing, swimming, reading, and enjoying the beautiful island of Maui, calling the island home since 1990. She has two children, both of whom are married, and she immensely enjoys spending time with her two grandsons, three and five years old, who live on O‘ahu. Polly joined Kihei Charter School in 2010.</p>

				Systems Administrator</strong><br />
				Phill received his undergraduate degree from Texas State University. His credentials include MSCSE Network and Server Specialty, NAUI Dive Master, and Recreational Therapy. He is the owner of PSI Technology. Prior to joining the Kihei Charter School ‘ohana, Phill worked as an Adolescent Therapist for the State of Hawaii. Phill enjoys working with and mentoring children and young adults, and supports students in their technology-field related career aspirations. He enjoys technology, snowboarding, turbo charging PCs, working with kids, his cats, and spending time with his wife, Monica. Phill joined Kihei Charter School in 2004.</p>

				Student Records and Administrative Assistant</strong><br />
				Melany pursued Criminal Justice studies through San Bernandino Valley College. Her previous experience is in law enforcement, courts, and intelligence, clerical positions, and student records. She moved to Maui is 2003 from Southern California. She enjoys the beach, dancing, martial arts, kickboxing, weightlifting, sports, and organic gardening. She is currently learning Hawaiian language and studying Hawaiian history. Melany joined Kihei Charter School in July 2007.</p>

				Student Support Services Coordinator</strong><br />
				Jolynn received her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Hawaii. Prior to joining the Kihei Charter School ‘ohana, she worked in many states as a former military spouse. She arrived on Maui in 2009 and feels blessed to be working at a charter school, as she did in Colorado for 11 years. She enjoys hiking, spending time with her family and friends, and reading every book that she can get her hands on. Jolynn joined Kihei Charter School in June 2011.</p>

				Director</strong><br />
				Gail received her Bachelor of Arts in History, with a concentration in American Cultural History, and with Minors in Environmental Studies and Psychology, from Oberlin College. She received her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Assessment Development from Prescott College. She also studied Marine Science at the School for Field Studies in the Turks and Caicos Islands, British West Indies. She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from the Pittsburgh Public Schools with an International Baccalaureate Diploma. She is credentialed in the State of Hawaii in Secondary Social Studies. Prior to joining the Kihei Charter School ‘ohana, Gail worked in schools and educational organizations in Oberlin, OH; Boston, MA; Pride’s Crossing, MA; the Florida Keys; and Gainesville, FL. During her years at KCS, she has worked as the High School Science Facilitator, High School Social Studies Facilitator, High School Lead Facilitator, and as the school’s Assistant Director, prior to being promoted to her current position of Director. She has presented at a variety of national conferences, and has attended educational trainings at both Stanford and Harvard. She enjoys the outdoors, traveling, hiking, camping, stand-up paddle boarding, free diving, gardening, creative pursuits, food, books, writing, and her pets. She is currently attempting to teach herself to play the ‘ukulele, and she hopes to summit Mt. Rainier in 2012. Gail joined Kihei Charter School in January 2003.</p>

				Fiscal Administrator</strong><br />
				Cheryl was a founding member of Kihei Charter School and has dedicated time and efforts over the past 15 years towards establishing and growing KCS. Entrepreneurial endeavors have driven her to participate in diverse businesses over the years: antique store management, food industries, summer school programs, youth programs, printing, signage, publications, marketing, and sales. She has experiences as a business owner and manager. Cheryl is active in the community, and is currently serving on the Board of South Maui Learning ‘Ohana. She is the proud mother of seven children, ranging in age from 16 to 33, two of whom are KCS alums and one of whom is currently attending KCS. She enjoys gardening, gymnastics, dance, and spending time with her family. Cheryl joined Kihei Charter School in 2004.</p>

				Leslie received her Bachelor of Arts from California State University Fullerton and she completed her teaching credentialing program at National University. She is credentialed in the State of Hawaii in Elementary education K-6, Elementary Special Education, and Mathematics grades 5-9. She has over 25 years of experience in California and Hawaii public and private schools. Leslie has called Maui home for over 10 years. She and her husband have been married for 32 years and they have 3 grown children. They are expecting their first grandchild, a baby girl, in early 2012. She enjoys running, hiking, playing tennis, and sitting on the beach with a good book. Leslie joined Kihei Charter School in July 2007.<br />

				K-8 Hybrid-Virtual Program Middle Grades Facilitator</strong><br />
				Pam attended the University of Portland and Mt. St. Mary’s College. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English, with a Minor in Social Studies, from California State University Northridge. She completed her post-graduate work in Special Education at the California State University Sacramento. Pam has been teaching for 36 years: four years teaching elementary grades, and 32 years teaching 7th and 8th grade English, Health, and Physical Education. Pam is credentialed in the State of Hawaii in Elementary Education K-6, Secondary English, and Secondary Health, and she is credentialed in the State of California in Elementary Education grades K-6. She enjoys exercise, travel, and being the ultimate Nana to her five awesome grandchildren, all of whom live on Maui. She also enjoys teaching adolescents about nutrition, exercise, writing, good manners, and respect. Pam joined Kihei Charter School in July 2006.<br />

				Lee received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Syracuse University and her Master of Arts in Education from Harvard University. Prior to joining the Kihei Charter School ‘ohana, Lee taught in Maine, France, Venezuela, Massachusetts, Saudi Arabia, Pennsylvania, and Guam. She is certified in the State of Massachusetts in Elementary Education Pre-K-6, and she is currently pursuing licensure in Hawai‘i. She grew up in Vermont with three brothers. Her husband, Michael, is the Principal at Maui Prep and they just celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary. Her daughter, Molly, is in 7th grade and her son, Toby, is in 5th grade. She enjoys theater, sports, books, music, cooking, and crafts. She likes working together with teacher and parents on projects. Lee joined Kihei Charter School in July 2011.<br />

She is credentialed in the State of Hawaii in Elementary Education and Social Studies grades 5-9 and in the State of California in Elementary Multiple Subjects. Prior to joining the Kihei Charter School ‘ohana Beth taught elementary grades at Ross School and Sun Valley School in California. Her interests include traveling, surfing, books, and animals. Beth joined Kihei Charter School in July 2009.<br />

				Tiffany grew up in Granville, Ohio and received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Liberty University. She has worked as a high school art instructor, an ESL Program Coordinator in Nonthaburi, Thailand, and as an assistant middle school teacher at a Montessori school. Tiffany has 12 children’s book translations published, and her goal is to continue to pursue writing and to earn her Master’s degree. She loves adventurous activities such as snowboarding, mountain biking, scuba diving, adventure racing, surfing, hiking, and traveling. She recently changed her last name to Anderson following her October 2011 wedding. Tiffany joined Kihei Charter School in July 2010.</p>

				STEM Middle School Language Arts Facilitator</b><br />
				Jamie graduated from the University of California Irvine and is credentialed in the State of Hawaii in Language Arts 5-9 and Elementary Education K-6. Prior to joining the Kihei Charter School ‘ohana, Jamie acquired a variety of diverse work experience on his resume: 1st grade teacher in northern California, an ocean lifeguard at Laguna Beach, and a trekking guide in the Swiss Alps. He has operated forklifts in urban warehouses, taught English in Nepal, and has rescued countless beach-goers. When he is not working, he loves to travel and he often finds himself wandering in the places he dreamt of when in middle school. He has trekked solo from India to Tibet, been bitten savagely by monkeys in Indonesia, traded pens for food along the ancient Silk Road, slept under bridges, and begged for dinner at the footsteps of strangers who have never heard of the United States. Jamie’s goal is to make every day an adventure; he wants to inspire students’ creativity and challenge their curiosity so much that they will keep searching for more long after the school year is done. Jamie joined Kihei Charter School in July 2009.<br />

				STEM Middle School Grades 7 &amp; 8 Lead Facilitator and Science Facilitator</b><br />
				Megan Edgar received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Maine and her Master of Education in Secondary Science Education from the University of Nevada, Reno.  Prior to joining the Kihei Charter School ‘ohana, Megan worked as a dolphin trainer in Florida and as part of a humpback whale research team in the Gulf of Maine.  She also tutored math, science, and writing at the Gould Academy summer school, led backpacking and canoeing trips for high school students in New England, coached alpine skiing in California, and taught seventh grade science at the Coral Academy of Science, a charter school in Reno, NV.   Megan is credentialed in the State of Nevada and in the State of Hawai&#8217;i in secondary science education. Megan has also attended Space Academy for Educators and is certified to teach the Project Lead the Way Gateway to Technology middle school engineering program. Megan grew up in northern Maine with a younger brother and many pets.  She enjoys being outside, and her favorite activities include skiing, mountain biking, and hiking.  Since moving to Hawaii she has learned to surf and also enjoys stand-up paddle boarding when the whales are visiting.  When she is not playing outside, Megan enjoys reading and writing.  She has Yorkshire Terrier named Jack. Megan joined Kihei Charter School in July 2008.<br />

				STEM Middle School Grade 6 Facilitator</b><br />
				Ellen received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California and her Masters in Teaching from Loyola Marymount University. Prior to joining the Kihei Charter School ‘ohana, she spent 10 years teaching 6th grade in Lawndale, California and six years as the Education Outreach Coordinator for the Maui Digital Bus. She is credentialed in the State of California in Elementary Education and is currently pursuing Hawaii licensure. She is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Honors Society. Ellen is originally from Southern California, where she played semi-professional volleyball for many years. She is now a very active paddler: she races outrigger canoes year-round, coaches novice paddlers and cancer survivors, and coordinates the yearly Paddle for Life voyage to Lanai (a fundraiser for the Pacific Cancer Foundation). Her other ocean-based hobbies include scuba diving, snorkeling, and stand-up paddling. She is married with two dogs. Ellen joined Kihei Charter School in July 2011.</p>

				Carmen received her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Pepperdine University, and received her Masters of Education in Math, Science, and Technology from the University of San Diego. She is credentialed in the states of Hawaii and California. Carmen was born in Switzerland, and her family moved to the Big Island when she was only a year old. Growing up in Hawaii has made her fully appreciate everything ocean-related: surf, swim, paddle, etc. She has grown fond of different cultures and languages, and she has traveled around the world, visiting more than 20 countries. Carmen is fluent in Swiss, German, and Spanish. Some of her interests include her family and friends, surfing, hiking, Zumba, dancing, exploring new places, trying new things, yoga, cooking, baking, traveling, chocolate, reading, and always improving her life in different ways. Carmen joined Kihei Charter School in July 2009.<br />

				STEM Middle School Science Facilitator</b><br />
				Christine received her Bachelor of Science, with a Minor in Chemistry, and a Master of Arts in Science Education from Oregon State University. She is very excited to be starting her career in education at Kihei Charter School. She is credentialed in the State of Hawaii and the State of Oregon in Science grades 5-9 and ESOL grades 5-12. Christine grew up and Oregon and loves the Pacific Northwest, but she is really enjoying her new home on Maui. Her hobbies include running half and full marathons, snowboarding, traveling, and just about any activity that involves the outdoors. She hopes to add surfing to the list of things she enjoys. Christine joined Kihei Charter School in July 2011.<br />

				STEM Middle School Social Studies Facilitator</b><br />
				Steve received his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of South Carolina, his Master of Arts in Education from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, and completed his teacher credentialing program at California State University Chico. He has taught social studies in California and Montana, as well as U.S. History and Government at the community college level. Steve is credentialed in the State of Hawaii in Social Studies grades 5-9, Social Studies grades 7-12, Mathematics grades 5-9, and English Language Learners grades K-12. He is also credentialed in the State of California in Social Studies grades 7-12 and Mathematics grades 5-9. He is the proud father of two daughters. Steve joined Kihei Charter School in July 2009.<br />

				STEM Middle School Engineering Facilitator</b><br />
				Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, with a Minor in Liberal Studies (Philosophy, Literature, History of Philosophy, and English). He has worked as a teacher’s aide with elementary, middle, and high school students, in food service, and as a middle school teacher. He enjoys hiking, camping, snorkeling, gardening, and cooking. Matt enjoys reading and studying any material that is related to science and mathematics. He also enjoys various types of literature and philosophy. He loves spending time with his wife and their three children. He was born in Minnesota and lived in Montana for more than 20 years. Matt joined Kihei Charter School in July 2010.</p>

				STEM Middle School Grade 6 Lead Facilitator and Multiple Subjects Facilitator</b><br />
				Melinda received her Bachelor of Arts in Special Education, Teaching Integrated Science, Teaching Mathematics, and Elementary Education and her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Michigan State University. She is credentialed in the States of Hawaii and Michigan in Elementary Education, Elementary Special Education, Middle School Math, Middle School Science, and Secondary Science. Prior to moving to Maui, Melinda held several science positions and volunteered at many local schools, collected local ornithology data, worked in hydrology and plant pathology labs, and developed science camp program for a biological station. Melinda also worked for Duke University’s TIP summer program teaching Zoology courses to middle school students. She also taught high school Special Education and tutored for Sylvan Learning Center. She enjoys being active: hiking, surfing, and traveling. She also enjoys drawing, painting, and gardening. Melinda joined Kihei Charter School in July 2008.</p>

				STEM Middle School Educational Assistant</b><br />
				Amanda received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California in Childhood and ADHD. Prior to joining the Kihei Charter School ‘ohana she worked as a substitute teacher for DOE schools on Maui. She is the Co-Founder and Curriculum Director for Jungle to Jungle, an interactive science and technology program that brings international exploration, biology, and digital tools into classrooms in Hawaii. She loves the jungle, exploration, Tom Robbins, Wired Magazine, and roller skating. Amanda joined Kihei Charter School in July 2011.</p>
