The ideal candidate holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, a Hawaii teacher’s license if applicable or the willingness to get licensed, and documentable experience working with students in our targeted age group.  A passion for education and the ability to multi-task will separate the ideal candidate from the pool of prospective educators.

Experience or familiarity with charter schools, project-based learning and a high level of computer literacy is a plus.

  • Special Education Teacher  

    Kihei Charter School, a K-12 public charter school, serving the island of Maui, seeks a highly qualified Special Education Teacher committed to working with students and constantly attempting to “raise the bar” on all aspects of a student’s education. Kihei Charter School provides special education in a full inclusion model. 

    The ideal candidate holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, a Hawaii teacher’s license if applicable or the willingness to get licensed, and documentable experience working with special education students.  Understanding and thoughtful delivery of differentiated instruction, organization, ability to write and coordinate care and administration of IEPs are required skills.  A passion for education and the ability to multi-task will separate the ideal candidate from the pool of prospective educators.

    Experience or familiarity with charter schools, project-based learning and a high level of computer literacy is a plus.


     

  • School Clerk Emergency Hire – this position may be extended and may evolve into a regular position either part or full time.

Description: Performs a variety clerical duties, at front desk, student records, meal clerk, and meal service.  Phone etiquette important, front desk duties include answering inquiries from staff and general public relating to school. Respectful attitude, with a positive approach.Education, Experience and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required as well as two years of customer service and/or clerical experience. The successful candidate needs to be ethical, honest, possess excellent interpersonal skills, as well as, display organization, time management, follow-through, and oral and written communication skills. Further, the successful candidate must:

 

  1. be extremely flexible and able to work independently
  2. be knowledgeable and comfortable working with technology and software programs, and be able to acquire additional skills for use of software, databases or other information systems as necessary
  3. have experience or a willingness to learn PowerSchool or other student information systems
    be able to meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules,
  4. be able to successfully analyze information, manage complexity, report results, enter data, and observe school and district policies as well as state and federal laws with attention to detail, confidentiality, and thoroughness.
  5. accept responsibility and be self-motivated.  Must maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to employees, students and parents and work effectively with school staff, educational personnel, and the general public.

  • Human Resource/ Office Clerk

Description: The successful candidate will be dedicated to quality education and be highly skilled in Human Resources, processing payroll and benefits, maintain files, and other human resources and clerical responsibilities. Qualities essential for success include attention to detail, accurate, able to work independently to complete assigned tasks. The successful candidate demonstrates strong verbal and written communications skills, consistently maintains a problem-solving approach, customer services attitude, and is willing to be highly flexible. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to employees, students and parents and work effectively with school staff, educational personnel, and the general public

Qualifications• Four-year degree preferred, with experience in school helpful.

  1. Experience in human resources including payroll and benefits.
  2. Experience with Ceridian for payroll and accounting software.
  •  Part-time Food Service Manager 
    *Kihei Charter School has a serving kitchen ONLY. NO ACTUAL COOKING

    Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with an academic major in: food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field. The Kihei Charter School Food Service Manager will oversee all aspects of the school’s Child Nutrition Program and provides an environment that supports healthy food habits while maintaining program integrity for the student and families’ satisfaction.
